Since its creation Kilndown Community Choir has taken up every possible opportunity to entertain the village.
As our repertoire has grown our singing skills have improved enormously. We are extremely fortunate to have Julian Wells, a Kilndown resident, as our Musical Director, now ably assisted by Sarah Heaton.
The adult choir has grown in numbers to nearly 40 members (but we could still do with more – men especially)
Our first event this year was the Hospice in the Weald Community Choirs Competition in February, where the choir performed 'Summertime' in an arrangement by Dominic and Julian, and 'Blue Mountain River' to a wildly enthusiastic audience.
In July we combined forces again with Cranbrook Town Band in 'Brass and Voices', a concert with an Anglo-French theme in St Mary's, Goudhust, which was very successful.
At Christmas we had a very well attended concert in Christ Church, and also sang at the Christmas Fair in St Mary's Goudhurst, the Christmas tree lighting in the Village Hall, Kilndown, the carol service in Christ Church, Kilndown and at a Memory Lane Café at Evernden House in Cranbrook.
The outdoor concert in June, Picnic at the Pavilion, on Kilndown cricket pitch, when the choir sang with several other musicians from Kilndown, was a huge success. Even the weather was on our side.
In September both choirs sang during the Flower Festival in Christ Church, Kilndown.
