The choir was founded in April 2013 and has become an important element of village life. We meet at 7.30 each Monday evening in Christ Church, Kilndown, under the leadership of our Musical Director, Julian Wells.
We sing a huge range of material, from pop songs, folk and spirituals to serious music by composers such as Carl Jenkins and John Rutter. The choir is always keen to improve its singing but our main focus is enjoyment. We are a sociable bunch and the atmosphere is always very relaxed, with a great deal of merriment, so even if you haven't sung for more years than you care to remember, or can't read a note of music, do come and give us a try, no auditions, everyone is welcome.
The Youth Choir, created and led with enormous enthusiasm by Julian is open to young people from the age of 8. They meet at 10.30 on Saturday mornings in the church and the accent is on fun. The music is chosen to suit youthful tastes but also to encourage the development of singing skills.
Each year the two choirs concentrate their efforts on a number of events, held in either Kilndown or Goudhurst, and of course Christmas is a very busy time. The proceeds enable us to support several charities and we raise many hundreds of pounds annually.
